My approach
In line with Person-Centred philosophy, I believe that each of us has the innate ability to live our life to its full positive potential.  You may feel that there are things preventing you from doing so. These may be external situations or internal thoughts/emotions/feelings, ranging from unease and discomfort to physical pain. They may manifest as stress, anxiety, depression, lethargy or irritation/frustration.  My commitment to you is to offer a safe, confidential, space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.  Working alongside you, I provide opportunity for you to become more aware of how you are in the world, how you relate to yourself and to others, and to discover what is right for you, setting your own goals. You are unique, and I welcome all aspects of you, those you may be comfortable with and those you may not be.  I work with you and whatever you bring, with relating being core to the therapy for both individuals and couples..


What you can expect in a first session
In the initial session, I will invite you to share what has brought you to therapy. I will listen carefully, checking my understanding with you. You will have an experience of the Person-Centred Approach, and experience of working with me.  There will be a chance for you to ask me questions about how I work, and for us to discuss how best to proceed.  You may decide to continue seeing me, or to go elsewhere.  It may be that you prefer a different type of therapy or therapist in which case I would be happy to signpost, or that you decide therapy is not for you.  

Ongoing
Should you choose to work with me, I offer long or short term counselling in Bedford, and short-term in London, for individuals and couples, both face-to-face in therapy rooms.  Short term usually means from 6-12 sessions. Sessions are either weekly or fortnightly, for 50 minutes for both individuals and couples. Evening/weekend appointments can be arranged as well as daytime. There is no minimum number of sessions but, from experience, I would advise that six is good starting number.
